Harmoniously designed and sited with reclaimed mosaic siding, living roofs and sloping lines that mimic the surrounding topography, this home is purposely integrated into its Sierra mountain scape. The rustic and refined exterior finishes in combination with the bold structure and unique form set the tone for the interior architecture and design with reclaimed wood wall paneling, custom white oak floors, rustic oak cabinets, and dark stained structural members. Decorative stacked logs are juxtaposed with a long linear gas fireplace highlighting the modern design with a rugged appeal.
In the Great Room, a custom light fixture hangs against a backdrop of hot rolled steel paneling. In the Kitchen, a bright orange Bertazzoni Range is paired with a silvery blue Heath Ceramics backsplash. The built-in coffee maker is by Miele and the refrigerator/freezer is a Sub-Zero. Plumbing fixtures throughout the home are in a beautiful matte black finish by Brizo. In the Rec Room custom steel shelving creates an inviting storage solution for glasses and bottles artfully surrounding a widescreen TV. A custom Hammerton multi-light pendant illuminates the billiard table.
The Primary Suite features a fireplace with a custom steel surround, a built-in dresser, private deck and walk-in closet. The Bath has a freestanding soaking tub surround by Walker Zanger marble and porcelain tile. The Lower Level is the kids’ lair with easy access to backyard sledding and views of the waterfall. The wintery white bedroom designed for a teenage girl’s dream, while a summer camp theme in the boy’s room is masculine yet childlike. The Upper Level "tower" holds a treehouse-like fifth bedroom with 360 degrees views.
Capitalizing on the gorgeous existing boulders, a natural looking in-ground spa with a waterfall is visible from the Primary Suite. A bridge crosses the waterfall providing access from the Primary Suite to the Spa. Interior and exterior living spaces blur the line between the inside and outside of the home. Outdoor living spaces include an outdoor kitchen with pizza oven, patios and heated covered decks.
Environmentally conscious details throughout include two living roofs, use of extensive reclaimed materials and local craftspeople for interior fixtures, finishes and furnishings. The home is oriented for passive solar, the footprint and grading were minimized as much as possible, the home is over insulated, and includes an efficient mechanical system and incorporated at grade patios.
